4.6 vs 5.0

i went to the local car gathering last friday and ran into one of my friends with a 1995 mustang gt. he's got a full exhaust system that sounds amazing, and im pretty much stock besides some magnaflows and a k&n. anyway, we chatted for a while and decided to do a few runs when afterwe left. the first race was dead even from about 40-80 and i pulled by a fender and stoped because of traffic. the 2nd race he got a huge jump and the rest is history. the third race was interesting. from 30-90 i pulled about 2 or 3 cars, then he blew past me. so are the 96 gen 4.6L's just horrible at top end or are 5.0's beastly up there?

I'm just curious about the 96 T-Birds... I've got 2 friends with T-Birds- one's a 94, the other's a 95 (he's since gotten rid of it). Anyway, they've both got the 4.6 SOHC and they were both governed to right around 105 MPH. Are the 96's like that or did they change that?

yea the 96-97 are still limited at 105. its because of the massively gay drive shaft ford didnt spend money on.

96-99 V8 SHO's aren't limited until 144 Smile

it's because ford wants you to blow the transmission so you come in and pay them more money Smile

So the driveshaft on the Mark VIII's and T-Birds are different? I just assumed they'd be the same, but I know the Mark VIII's limiter doesnt kick in until WAY after 105. Either they've got different driveshafts or Ford just didnt care about the Mark VIII's, lol.

It's different. Your 93 has the best factory driveshaft available. It's the only year Mark VIII with a one piece aluminum driveshaft. 94-98 Mark VIIIs Used a two piece aluminum DS, which is almost as bad as the t-bird's two piece crimped POS.
