Stock Mark VIII LSC vs. slightly modded GTP
#11
Quote:I found out tonight he's got "exhaust work" too, but I don't know what exactly. Either way, it was a good race. I'm going to run him again once I get my black Mark VIII out on the road.

Yea, that could mean any number of things on a GTP.

when i had my Mark VIII I ran a 2002 GTP 2 door and smoked him, both from a roll and from 35mph - 100mph (just kept pullin on him)
but yeah, a SC pulley and programmer can keep up with a Mark VIII

my brother has a 93 mark viii, ran 14.7 with a muffler and an exhaust system similar to the 95-96LSC's... true duals. Thats pretty stock to me, I really wonder what it would have ran with stock exhaust, I would say 14.9 easy. I also believe he is capable of doing 14.5's as it sits.

I'd run a SC if there was one around here to run. Unfortunately, the closest thing we've got around here to a SC (that hangs out and races) is a 94 or 95 4.6 SOHC T-Bird, which is pretty pointless to run against a Mark VIII (believe me, I've rode in the T-Bird and driven the T-Bird), but either way, we're going to race anyway just to give both of us perspective (he wants to see how bad I would take him. I just want to see how far behind me he is before he starts modding it). I should have a video of that to share whenever it goes down.

yeah those are only 2 valve motors in the T-birds Sad

low 16's in the quarter mile isn't really impressive Sad

And for a while, the guy with the T-Bird was talking about how he thought he could beat the Mark VIII. Of course, that was over the phone while I was out of town. I told him I'd run him, and when I got back in town, he never mentioned it again. Funny how that works, isn't it? Wink

you should find someone with a 5 speed SHO to race him, and then film when he loses to a 3.0L V6 taurus Smile

actually, and DOHC Taurus (89-99 SHO, 96-05 Duratec) should be able to take or at least keep up with a 4.6L T-bird
