Stock steering shaft??

I did find a post simular to yours, but no follow up to let anyone know how it was fixed. ND4SPD posted that he is using a MM shaft on a '86 mark without issue. But the question is if the 90+ cars have the same splines as early marks.

i think that the steering link is diff in 90 up its like sn95 except where it bolts on to rack & thats the same as other mk7

spline is different! Got a new joint just got to get it pressed in! I got the Joint from www.theujointstore.com very fast and very cheap gonna pull it out this week. anyone know if i could take the shaft off without taking off steering column? or does taking off the column give you the play?



Sorry im back to good ole slickrick since for some reason my password was changed on my other name when the site was down????

Let me know what your other username is and I'll get your account situated. It's possible that some account passwords will need to be reset as a result of the forum conversion.

Wait. I'm going to guess SlickRick2. Can't you do a "forgot my password" to reset it?

Here is the Joint I am fixing!

Now just gotta get the old one out and have this one pressed in! These joints arent welded together are they? A press at harbor freight is 24.99 might just do it myself if all you have to do is press it in? Anyone know if i gotta unplug airbag when i pull steering column loose??
