front end noise
#1
On a 1993 f150 302 4x4 e4od transmission dana 44 ttb. Since i bought this thing there has been a strange clunking sound in the front end, seemingly from the left side. appears to happen every time the body moves like around corners bumps etc. most notably when it is decompressing that side. I have check the ujonts and the appear to be solid. the 4x4 is manual hubs and they seem to work perfectly. new shocks fairly recently, still doing it. i noted that the top of the spring was a bit loose and would move a bit when flexed. snugged up the retainer strap, no change. i'm running out of things to check, any suggestions?

Its possible, and yah it makes the same sound in 4 or 2wd. about the only things left are pivot arm bushings, cv joints, or ball joints. everything else is new.

Update on this for anyone else with a similar problem it turned out to be a transmission mount broken.

I'm pretty sure when your chevy whines super loud, but it goes away when you turn a certain direction, you've got a bad wheel bearing, what you guys think?

Since it sounds during turn only, I too think its ball bearing.

here is a big hint. if your chevy is making noise in the front end. it almost always comes down to a wheel bearing. get it check quick
