Bad 'stang cam pos. sensor?
#1
A friend asked if I'd look @ his daughters '95 3.8 'stang. Suddenly idles @ 2k. Confusedhocked: He replaced the TPS and IAC - no change.
Only stored code P0340 - bad cam position sensor. My other scanner calls this P1340 - camp sensor count error.
Could that cause the high idle.? :chin:

Turns out I didn't have ALL the info ( as usual ). The problem actually started last winter, but only became constant last month.
The CAMP sensor only syncs up the injection cycle, but the IAC (previously replaced with a NFG NEW unit from AutoZone - a good place to buy air fresheners I suppose) will perch the the idle ~ 2K.
So, a new for-real IAC did the trick.
Kind of interesting, I took the IAC off, cut a 2" sq. piece of AL, and played w/ covering the TB orifices and got it to idle by moving the cover back and forth, so @ that point I knew the IAC was the culprit.

Some pretty slick detective work there.

Thanks.
It's interesting to be able to try something off the wall and have it actually work.
Aside from that, changing that camp sensor was not something I wanted to tackle. Complexity above my skill set.
