The last time I did one, it was left handed. I remembered it was stripped and had left hand theads. I had to drill and heili-coil it to right hand threads. Removing the tension off the belt was a PITA since the bolt tried to loosen.

EDIT: the tensioner pulley is left hand threads. If its a pulley that is stationary (bolted to engine bracket), they should be right hand threads.

well no matter now, ford in all their wisdom of course has to use f'n torx bolts...now its rounded out. problem for another day. now the next problem. replaced the valve cover gasket...found that the cylinder head was covered in sludge!! hmm, Seafoam?

My Recommendation is to remove the sludge and gunk with scrapers and screwdrivers. Vacuum up the crud and reinstall valve cover. Change oil every 3,000 miles and forget it.

The problem with cleaners in the oil is that it will loosen the wax and sludge and it will get picked up by the oil pump. It will either plug the pickup screen on the pump or it will damage the oil filter and end up in the bearings. Either senario is very bad.
